What to Consider When Choosing a New Kitchen Faucet
Most of the time, all we want to do is have the ability to get water out of our kitchen faucet. Whether it is hot or cold, we just want to know that the water is available when we need it. However, there is much more to kitchen faucets than water retrieval.
The faucets that are available today come in different styles and finishes, and some of them are more advanced technology-wise than others. Here are 3 things to consider when choosing a new kitchen faucet for your kitchen:
No faucet is the same and neither are two sinks. Certain sinks require a faucet with two mounting holes while others require four holes. Therefore, if you are using an existing sink, we recommend that you determine how many mounting holes it has and then only look at those faucets that meet the requirements of your sink.
The only way that you can avoid that entire hole mounting issue is to install a deck-mounted faucet or a wall-mounted faucet. A deck-mounted faucet can be mounted directly to your countertop, whereas a wall-mounted faucet attaches to the wall.
You can choose a faucet with a single handle, double handle, or the newer hands-free models. The single handle will allow you to adjust the flow of the water as well as the temperature using your hand or wrist as you pull it up or down and move it side to side. That is a great option for when your hands are covered in something yucky that you don’t want on the handle.
A double handle faucet allows you to either turn on the cold water, hot water, or both by turning a knob on both sides of the faucet. A hands-free faucet will allow you to simply place your hands under the water spout and the water will automatically turn on. There is a handle on the side of the faucet that will allow you to adjust the temperature according to your needs.
Materials and Finishes
Faucets are available in chrome, nickel, brushed nickel, bronze, brass, white, black, and stainless steel. We recommend that you match your faucet finish to the other fixtures in your kitchen for a more visually appealing look.
