5 Types of Lighting Every Spa-Like Bathroom Needs

You simply cannot flip one switch in your bathroom for one light and think that you can see to do anything that you need to do in there. In just cannot be done! Imagine trying to see to do your makeup with the same light that you use to clean your shower. It’s impossible! If you have been struggling to do this, then it is time to update the lighting in your bathroom.

Here are 5 types of lighting every spa-like bathroom needs:

Ambient lighting is the same as natural lighting, so the only way you are going to get this type of lighting is if you have windows in your bathroom. The benefit of this light is that you can see yourself as you would when you are outdoors.

Overhead Lighting

This type of lighting is usually found with recessed or can lighting, and it is perfect for adding general lighting to a room. This is great for lighting up your entire bathroom, but it is going to add a lot of shadows as well.

Pendant Lighting

Pendant lights add a warm glow of light lower in a room. These lights work well over a sink and vanity, but not when you are doing your hair and makeup.

Wall Sconces

Wall sconces are perfect for hair and makeup, as they can be placed next to your mirror and cast the light directly at your face without shadows.

Accent Lighting

Accent lighting isn’t used that often in a bathroom, unless you want to highlight a certain part of architecture or something special to you. However, you can use it creatively in your bathroom, so that it acts as a soft light in the middle of the night.

Bathroom Remodeling in Chicago

We recommend placing many of these lights on dimmer switches, so that you can control how bright they are when you are using them. That way, you will not need to shower or soak in a tub with really bright lights if you do not want to. After all, aren’t you supposed to relax when you are at the spa? You can’t do that if you have all these bright lights glaring down at you!
