6 Tips to Help You Survive Your Kitchen Remodeling Project Like a Pro

Kitchen remodels can take a few weeks to complete and while it is understandable that you will want to give up on it all halfway through, there are certain things that you can do to survive the entire process. Here are 6 helpful hints to help you survive your kitchen remodel:

Remodel With New Stainless Appliances

Temporary Kitchen: In the beginning, you might be thrilled that you can eat out all of the time, but that feeling will not last too long. You will be tired of fast food and spending money at restaurants. To prevent this, we recommend that you designate one area in your house to serve as a temporary kitchen. You should use this space to make a cup of coffee, prepare lunches for the day and microwave up some soup to go with sandwiches for an easy and quick dinner.

Keep Useful Items in Reach: When you are setting up your temporary kitchen, you should only keep things out that you will actually need. There is no reason to keep your stand mixer out if you will not use it. However, if you use your coffee pot every day, it should be kept in this space.

Simple Meals: To make meal time easier, you might want to prepare meals in small appliances like the microwave and crock pot. You can place everything into a crock pot in the morning and walk into the house later that night to dinner ready and waiting.

Stock Up on Disposable Items: It is not going to be easy to wash dishes while your kitchen is being remodeled, so we recommend that you use disposable plates, cups and silverware.

Grill Out: If you enjoy grilling, then making dinner will be very easy, because you can purchase items to cook on the grill. This may be a little more difficult if you’re remodeling during the winter months.

Less Refrigeration: Depending on whether or not you have access to a full-size refrigerator during the remodel, you may want to stock up on snacks that do not need to be refrigerated. All of these snacks can be used to keep away hunger especially if dinner is taking a little longer to cook than you thought it would.

Everyone knows that kitchen remodels can be difficult, but no one fully understands exactly how difficult until they are in the middle of one. Make sure to keep more snacks and comfort foods on hand while the house is largely out of commission. Everyone needs a little help coping with things from time to time, and this is the perfect time to allow extra snacks.

These tips should help you survive this difficult time until you can use your brand new kitchen. Give us a call at 312-714-5454 if you’re in the Chicago area and would like to schedule a consultation for kitchen remodeling with us.
