Best Flooring for Your Bathroom Remodel

If you are planning to remodel your bathroom, you will need to decide what type of flooring you want to install. You will need a material that will hold up to the traffic in the room and won’t be destroyed by water. Tile is a lovely choice, but let’s take a look at a few other ideas like vinyl and bamboo as well. Here are 5 types of flooring that you should consider for your bathroom remodel:

Ceramic Tile

Pexels Photo 3Many people install ceramic tile in their bathrooms, because it is durable and waterproof. However, ceramic tiles can be quite slippery when they get wet, so we always recommend that you choose a tile that has been certified as slip resistant. One of the only downsides with this type of flooring is that it is very cold to walk on.

Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl is one of the cheapest types of flooring that you can choose. This material is easy to clean and waterproof. It is also available in many different styles and colors. We recommend that you choose vinyl that is available in sheets or planks instead of the peel and stick tiles. This will prevent extra water from seeping underneath.

Cork Flooring

Cork flooring is made from bark and it is resistant to mold, mildew, and water. Those three things are what makes this type of flooring perfect for bathrooms. We recommend that you have unfinished cork tiles installed and then finish it with a top coat. This will prevent water from seeping through the gaps.

Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo flooring is very budget friendly and we recommend that you choose engineered bamboo for your bathroom. The reason for this is the planks are durable and can handle rooms that have water in them. This allows you to enjoy the appearance of wood floors in the bathroom without worry that the moisture in the room will destroy them.

Laminate Flooring

You can choose to have laminate installed in your bathroom, but be careful because any standing water can cause the floor to warp significantly. Laminate flooring may even begin to peel if it gets wet.

Radiant Heating

As you are considering these flooring options, you may also want to consider installing radiant floor heating under the flooring that you choose. The heat will keep your feet warmer whenever you step into the bathroom or out of the shower. This makes ceramic tile a very viable option again, because the temperature is taken out of the equation.
