Here are 4 upgrade ideas for you to consider while thinking about remodeling projects:

  1. Your kitchen should be one of the first things that you remodel, because it is one of the main areas of your home and you spend a lot of time in there. You will want to focus on the cabinets and appliances when you remodel, because these are easiest to install when a remodel is taking place. Other good ideas for a kitchen remodel are microwave drawers, under-counter beverage stations and pull-out pantries.
  2. Lighting is necessary in every room in the house and you will want to make sure that you have great lighting in the kitchen. Many people think that an overhead light in the kitchen and bathroom is enough, but in reality it isn’t. We recommend that you install multiple lights in each of these rooms, so that you can see no matter what you are doing. Lights over a kitchen island make it easier to prepare meals, while lighting near the floor makes it easier to see while walking through the kitchen late at night. A light that is placed over a bathtub should be on a dimmer switch, so that you can adjust the brightness as needed and lights should be installed near the vanity for getting ready each day.
  3. The floor in your house gets a lot of traffic and it can look worn over time. This is an easy remodeling project that will not take a long time and the inside of your home will look much nicer. Hardwood floors are a nice option, because they can be refinished in the future if needed. Tile is a great option if you’re looking for extra durability. Also consider heated flooring to improve everyday life in your home.
  4. Adding extra outlets or a ceiling fan counts as a remodeling project. The extra outlets will make it easier to charge all of your electronics; consider installing outlets with USB ports for added charging capabilities. The ceiling fan will keep the air circulating inside your home and the heat more evenly disbursed throughout the winter months.

Remodeling does not have to be time consuming or expensive all of the time. Little changes here and there count as well. However, the goal of each project should be to improve the functionality of your home. Increased functionality is one of the biggest reasons our clients contact us. Most people want their kitchen to be more functional or they want to open the floor plan to improve traffic and air flow.
