Total Basement Transformation in Naperville, IL

Originally built in the late 70’s this Naperville, Illinois basement was in dire need of an update. We tore the dated walls down and started fresh from bare studs. This allowed up to design a modern, usable, and flexible basement.

Adding to the functionality of the basement we cut into the concrete subfloor to supply water and plumbing to a brand new bathroom. We redid the entire electrical and lighting work because the existing utilities could not provide safe and adequate power. We removed the drop ceiling opting instead for a more traditional ceiling. This also had the added benefit of giving the owner an extra few inches of height. We dug down and cut into the foundation to give the owners an egress window. Not only is this a necessary safety precaution, but it also let in a lot of natural light into the basement. These changes along with the recessed lights help keep the space open and bright.

The exposed wires in the finished pictures are there for a custom 7.1 channel home theater system that the homeowner was installing themselves. In addition to the wiring we also soundproofed the walls with special insulation to dampen sounds and prevent unwanted echoing.
